This does take a bit more preparation than updating genuine Mac hardware. I don't follow the community that closely unless I'm building a new rig so apologies if these questions seem obvious.With macOS 10.15.5 out, it was time to update my Hackintosh again.

How does a high spec z590 hack with a decent GPU rank against the latest M1 Max MBP? It seems like Z690 is a no go at the moment, is that true? What spec hack would you target with a budget up to $3k USD without monitor. What's the best spec 'relatively' easy to get going hackintosh possible these days? I'm wondering if it's worth it. Frankly the only other option I would consider would be a M1 mac pro when they drop, but then the price is going to be pretty ridiculous. I'm wondering whether its worth considering building another hack when the M1 Max in the recent Macbook Pros appears to be way performant enough for my needs, the only downside being price. I'm not much of a gamer but wouldn't mind having the option. My workloads are audio production software and multithreaded workloads like encoding and compiling. Interested in the thoughts of the community here. My current rig has a couple of niggly issues and is coming up on 3 years old so I'm starting to consider my options and for the first time I'm considering going back to apple hardware.

Its been stressful getting the builds going each time, but ultimately I've been happy with this approach for some time. I've been targeting performance over price over the years precluding a laptop or a mac mini and like using my own monitor which counts out an imac. I have been using a hack for over 10 years, starting with X79, then X99 then Z390.
